Jung Center Resource

Jung Center Resources If you live in a city that has a “Jung Center,” then you are quite blessed! I live in Houston, so I am delighted to have the Jung Center of Houston (JCH) in the heart of the Montrose/Museum district! The JCH offers classes rooted in the depth psychology theories of Carl Jung, the renowned psychologist. The JCH instructors provide valuable insight about our
inner world, which can lead to personal growth and development when applied. Therapists receive continuing education credits for the classes, but you don’t have to be a therapist to enroll. Below are some key highlights about this invaluable resource. See the JCH website for details on each point: https://junghouston.org/.
  • Scholarships If you do not currently have the financial resources to take a class, you can apply for a scholarship. See the application on the JCH website.
  • Free Art Exhibits – Admission is free to the Jung Center Art Gallery.
  • Membership The JCH membership is reasonably priced at $100 per person ($2/week). Members receive discounts on classes and bookstore purchases. Below are three examples of books I have purchased at the JCH that I greatly enjoyed and highly recommend. Click on the links to see reviews.

The Eden Project: In Search of the Magical Other by James Hollis

Finding Meaning in the Second Half of Life: How to Finally, Really Grow Up by James Hollis

Under Saturn’s Shadow: The Wounding and Healing of Men by James Hollis

  • Library If you are a member, you may borrow books from the JCH library. This option alone makes the membership worthwhile.
  • Classes The JCH offers reasonably priced in-person and online classes on various topics that benefit your inner growth. Since 2005, I have taken classes on a variety of topics, including relationships, dream analysis, handling uncertainty, mid-life crisis, enneagram, kundalini, self-mastery, Playback Theater, individuation, and shadow. (This is not an exhaustive list.)
The Jung Center of Houston is truly a hidden gem that offers a variety of resources that nurture and enrich your inner growth. Now that classes are also available online, you don’t have to live in Houston to benefit from them. If your city has a Jung Center, I strongly encourage you to visit in person and find out what it has to offer. If your city does not have a Jung Center, I recommend reading books on Jungian Psychology. There is no shortage of books to choose from.
