The Hope and Healing Center at St. Martin Episcopal Church

Houston has many hidden gems, and St. Martin Episcopal church (located near Galleria and Tanglewood) is certainly one of them! The church has a delightful campus with a beautiful “Serenity Garden,” a gazebo for prayer and contemplation, and lovely gardens throughout the campus. The pictures below do not do the church justice. You must see the campus for yourself to appreciate its charm! The church campus also includes The Hope and Healing Center, which offers a 16-week faith based support group for sexual trauma surivors called “Hearts Transformed.” See the website for details and for other support groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous. https://hopeandhealingcenter.org/services/support-groups/
I participated in the Hearts Transformed group in 2019 and found it quite beneficial. The facilitators were professional and compassionate. Being in a safe non-judgmental group setting was comforting, and I realized that I was not alone on this painful path. I would definitely recommend this support group to sexual trauma survivors. I still visit St. Martin periodically during spring and fall to enjoy quiet time in the gardens and gazebo.

Each person’s healing journey is unique and impacted by different factors. St. Martin is a great fit for individuals who are positively impacted by a beautiful environment (gardens), as well as peace and quiet (gardens and gazebo). The support groups are ideal for people who seek a safe place to connect with others and share their experiences. St. Martin Episcopal Church is a blessing to Houston. Visitors can find comfort in its gorgeous natural scenery and various support groups. Visiting St. Martin is definitely worth your time.
